Oops, it's been a while since I updated here. I have too many social media accounts/blogs/etc. to keep track of! I do, however, update my tumblr and my deviantART page more frequently if you want to follow me on either platform. My behance is updated semi-regularly,
Most of my time has been spent on projects for my Advanced Concept Art and Hand Lettering classes. This spring (perhaps beginning with holiday break?) will be dedicated to fleshing out my portfolio. I'm hoping to polish the remaining pieces from my Origins project too. For now, here are some pieces from my concept art class:

Origins project
The following are my favorite pieces from my all-semester project for Sequential and Narrative Illustration. We basically had free reign to pick any topic and format for the project--the only requirements were that it be a cohesive series, in a printed format, with at least 14-16 illustrations. I chose to research a selection of creation myths and illustrate them, mainly focusing on non-western cultures. For a more in-depth explanation of each piece and the project in general, please visit the links below.
Garo (India)
Hindu (India)
Ki'che Maya (Mesoamerica)
Norse (Northern Europe)
Little Red Riding Hood remix
From my Concept Art final, and one of the only projects in this class that actually felt like concept art! We had to choose a well-known fairy tale to reinterpret and then design three characters from this reinterpretation. Genre-swapping has been a common theme for this project in the past, but I was more interested in exploring cultural settings. So I decided to set Little Red Riding Hood in India, mainly because of the wardrobe opportunities. I tried a more cartoony/animated style for this and I quite like the results, especially considering the time crunch I was in.

Spring Update
I kinda dropped the ball on this blog, oops. I have a lot of different web presences I update regularly, this just hasn't been one of them. To get a better idea of what I'm up to, you can follow me on tumblr, behance, or deviantART.
Anyways, I just have work from my concept art class to show...the work from my other studio isn't ready for posting yet, all the pieces are in various stages of completion cause it's a semester-long project.

The Golden Compass
Cover illustration for Philip Pullman's "The Golden Compass," done for my final project for the semester. While it was frustating at first, my favorite part was probably painting her hair. I've never really painted curly hair before.
My final for Life Drawing II, a portrait of my teenage brother. He was surprisingly cooperative in posing for me, though I wasn't actually present to take pictures of him--my dad did it for me since I was on campus and they were at home in good ole KC. Good job, internet! Technology is a marvelous thing.
The original drawing is around four feet tall, as a side note. Had to get up on a stool to draw his face, because I am a shorty.
